JAN OPSOMER is Professor of Ancient Philosophy in the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Leuven (Belgium). He has published extensively on the Platonic tradition in antiquity. He is the author of In Search of the Truth: Academic Tendencies in Middle Platonism (1998). He has translated, together with Carlos Steel, Proclus, On the Existence of Evils (2003), and Proclus, Ten Problems concerning Providence (2012). He has co-edited The Origins of the Platonic System. Platonisms of the Early Empire and their Philosophical Context (2009) and Meditations and representations. The philosopher and emperor Marcus Aurelius in an interdisciplinary light (2012).
