Biography

Sari Nusseibeh is a palestinian professor of Philosophy. Born in Damascus in 1949, he studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics in Oxford and, in 1978, took a Ph.D in Islamic Philosophy at Harvard University. From 1995 to 2014, he was President of Al-Quds University, where he teaches Philosophy from 1995. His research interests are now focused on Islamic Intellectual Thought (past and present) and Moral and Political Thought – especially related to the Palestinian issue. He was also the representative of Palestinian National Authority in Jerusalem from 2008 to 2010. In the same year, in an open online poll, Nusseibeh was voted the 24th most influential intellectual in the world on the list of Top 100 Public Intellectuals by Prospect Magazine (UK) and Foreign Policy (United States).
