Peter Engelmann is one of the most important european philosopher and intellectual. He was born in East Berlin, where he also studied philosophy. After he was jailed for political reasons, he was able to escape in Vienna. In 1987, he founded the house publishing Passagen Verlag, the first press in the German-speaking world devoted to translating key texts of postmodernism and deconstruction into German. Mr. Engelmann taught in several universities in Germany, Austria and United States.
